Flash mob performs at Brooksville Halloween shop

BROOKSVILLE – Shoppers looking for the perfect Halloween costume on Saturday afternoon got a surprise – and maybe even a scare – when a flash mob performed a dance routine to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at Spirit Halloween, 13120 Cortez Blvd.

Dancers aged 8 to 16, from Serena’s Dance Palace, performed three routines at the Halloween store, and danced at other locations throughout the day at two farmer’s markets, Target and Crews Lake Wilderness Park.

“This is a positive way for the kids to show off what they love to do,” said Serena Young, owner of the studio and dance teacher at Powell Middle School.

Young said Serena’s Dance Palace did similar, spontaneous performances around Halloween last year, and the audience’s enthusiastic reactions brough them back for a second year.

“Everyone is smiling when they’re done,” Young said, adding the unsuspecting audience members usually have questions about the seemingly-impossible dance moves and zombie makeup.

“This is a really great group of kids,” Young added.
