Man burglarized residence, deputies say
SPRING HILL – A 28-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a woman told authorities she saw him break into a vacant home on Stillwater Avenue, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A backpack that deputies said they believe belongs to suspect Steven Slattery was found inside the home. It contained screwdrivers, a hammer, picks and a small flashlight.
Slattery was found by sheriff’s dogs, and he ran before deputies took him into custody, authorities said.
The Spring Hill man is being held in lieu of $18,000 bail at the Hernando County Jail on charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, resisting an officer and possession of burglary tools.
Jail records show Slattery was booked on failure to appear on a Pasco County charge of domestic battery.
