Athletes awarded at Parrott Middle School
Parrott Middle School held a ceremony Wednesday, honoring six eighth-grade athletes with three separate awards.
Dontay Washington received the Whatley award for the 2013-2014 year. The Whatley award is in remembrance of Davey Whatley, and is given to the best all-around athletes, taking into account attitude and effort.
William Coffey and Janea Mobley received Most Athletic, given to a male and female who participated in at least two sports, as voted on by the school’s coaches.
Thomas Loefflor and Madison Muniz were given the Student/Athlete award for playing a minimum of two sports and maintaining a high grade point average.
Dontay Washington and Eugenae Redding received the Whatley award, named after Davey Whatley, a former sports writer at the Brooksville Sun-Journal. The award is given to the best all-around athletes, taking into account attitude and effort.
