Spring Hill man faces charges of threatening victim, deputies say

BROOKSVILLE – A 22-year-old Spring Hill man was arrested Tuesday after threatening a witness, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Brent Courtney, of Glowood Avenue, was already in custody at the Hernando County Jail on numerous charges.

An arrest affidavit shows Courtney made threatening phone calls to the daughter of a victim in a sheriff’s office case.

Courtney told the woman he is an informant for the sheriff’s office and he “would not get in any trouble for beating her (expletive) if she told the cops about him stealing the rings from her mother,” the affidavit shows.

Courtney said the worst he could get was 30 days in jail and a restraining order and he would beat her up again once those ended, deputies said.

The victim told deputies Courtney has beat her up before and she is “deathly afraid” of him.

Courtney admitted he threatened the victim but didn’t plan to follow through on the threats.

Courtney was arrested and booked into the jail the day before on charges of grand theft and dealing in stolen property. An affidavit shows he was visiting the victim when he stole the items belonging to her and her mother.

Two co-defendants were arrested along with Courtney on charges of grand theft and dealing in stolen property: Chelsea Kelly, 18, and Dorian Frasca, 18.

Courtney is being held on $14,000 bail, according to jail records.

Court records show Courtney has been convicted of driving with a suspended or revoked license in the past.
