Brooksville bicyclist dies from injuries sustained in July crash
A 54-year-old Brooksville man who was hit by a semitrailer in July while riding his bike on State Road 50 has died from his injuries, troopers said Monday.
Ralph L. Mundy died on Sept. 4, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Mundy was riding east on the outside shoulder of State Road 50 near the Nature Coast Boulevard interchange at 2:18 p.m. on July 23, troopers said.
A semitrailer driven by Wisnel Alice, 33, of Brandon, was also traveling east in the outside lane, troopers said.
As Alice was about to pass Mundy, the bicyclist moved in front of the semitrailer, troopers said.
Alice tried to avoid the collision but struck Mundy, who was ejected onto the road, troopers said.
Mundy was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center with serious injuries.
