Junior Lifeguard Camp at Weeki Wachee
9:00am-4:00pm, Monday, July 13 through Saturday, July 18. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, 6131 Commercial Way (US-19), Weeki Wachee, 34607. Children ages eight through 14 are eligible for the program. Participants will receive training in basic water rescues, advanced escape techniques, CPR, AED, and first aid. Book Discussion: Surrounded on Three Sides
2:00-3:30pm. Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, 34608. Join the group for a lively discussion of the book entitled Surrounded on Three Sides by John Keasler. The 1958 novel is remarkable both for its humor and for its early portrayal of the dilemma of Florida growth. A novelist and journalist, Mr. Keasler wrote nearly 7,000 humor columns during his 30-year career at the old Miami News, and he also covered the major historical events of the time, including Kennedy’s assassination and Neil Armstrong’s trip to the moon.
