Stoned men break into Spring Hill school, steal Froot Loops, deputies say

SPRING HILL — Late blues great Muddy Waters once sang of his favorite substances in the song “Champagne and Reefer.”

Too young to purchase alcohol, Logan Brown, 18, and Christopher Ramos, 20, elected to pair their marijuana with the popular cereal Froot Loops on July 3 — after they broke into the Challenger K-8 School, a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The pot-puffing pair was busted after a Hernando detective posted images from the school’s surveillance video on the sheriff’s office Facebook page and distributed the images by a Community Alert Bulletin, the report said.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown and Ramos smoked pot and decided to “go on an adventure.” The men partially covered their faces and heads before breaking into the school at 3400 Elgin Boulevard in Spring Hill, the report said.

Inside the school, Brown and Ramos wandered the halls and looked inside classrooms until they found an open room, went inside and stole the Froot Loops, the report said.

Numerous tips about the two flooded the sheriff’s office after the surveillance images were posted, the sheriff’s office said.

Brown and Ramos were both arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure. Each was released within hours from the Hernando County jail, records show.

In May, Brown was arrested for failing to appear in court, records show. That case pertained to a charge of driving on a revoked or suspended license, Hernando jail records show.
