Officials: Brooksville man wields gun, found with drugs

BROOKSVILLE
A Brooksville man was arrested Tuesday evening at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Twigg Streets after sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a man riding a bicycle and “waving a gun,” according to the arrest affidavit.

James Harold Langley, 43, was found holding a black gun, later identified as a BB gun. When Langley was searched deputies also found a “white, small handgun” – later identified as a lighter – and a knife in his waistband.

Langley was booked on possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. His bond was set at $20,500 and Langley was given a court date of Feb. 26.

Florida Department of Corrections records show Langley was released from prison in November 2011 for a four-year prison sentence for cocaine possession charges. Prison records also show Langley has served eight sentences since 1989 on charges that include armed burglary, grand theft, cocaine possession and sale, failing to appear and fleeing bail and sale of counterfeit drugs.
