Man booked for felony retail thefts

SPRING HILL Dallas Latham, 46, was booked at the county jail Thursday afternoon for two recent thefts from Walmart, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 4, Latham was seen taking a crowbar from the tools section of the store at 1485 Commercial Way, and opening up a glass case to remove five laptops valued at $3,450.60. The Spring Hill man then put a large tire on top of the computers in his cart, and walked out of the store without paying for the items, an arrest affidavit stated.

On Thursday, loss prevention officers saw Latham take a Samsung Home Theater System, worth $298, remove the security wrap and walk out without paying, according to the arrest affidavit.

Latham was arrested on two charges of felony retail theft, and bonded out Thursday night for $4,000.

Court records show Latham was arrested on battery charges in September 2012, which were later dropped by prosecutors.
