Man arrested for joint behind ear during traffic stop

BROOKSVILLE – A man on felony probation for homicide/manslaughter culpable negligence was arrested last Friday when an officer noticed a joint behind his ear during a traffic stop, according to Brooksville Police Department.

David Alan McBurnett, 22, of Lehigh Acres, was pulled over by Brooksville police for an equipment violation, and when the officer asked him for his driver’s license and vehicle documents, noticed what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette behind his ear.

A field test confirmed that was the case.

McBurnett was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, and violation of felony probation. The vehicle he was driving was also impounded and stored at Brooksville Police Department.

McBurnett is being held at Hernando County Jail without bond.
