Man admits to burglarizing Spring Hill preschool

SPRING HILL – A Spring Hill man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing around $2,000 in office supplies and a red tricycle from the First Friends Preschool where his wife worked up until she was fired Monday.

Nathan Cook, 32, was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and larceny, and is being held at the Hernando County Jail on $1,000 bond.

A Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrest report shows Cook gained entry into the north side of the building through an unsecured door.

The report shows investigators responded to the scene, and found a cell phone that had been left behind.

One investigator noticed a number continuously calling it, which was later traced back to a number belonging to Cook’s wife.

The cell phone was confirmed as Cook’s from previous calls made to the school.

Investigators went to Cook’s wife’s residence, where she said her husband, Cook, arrived with the stolen items in a car.

Cook was later found in a red 2001 Chrysler 300 and taken into custody. In custody, Cook admitted to detectives that he burglarized the school, according to the report.

Cook went on to say that he and his wife were having marital problems, and he thought it would make her happy to give her some supplies as she started to look for a new job.
