K-9 Justice Apprehends Burglary Suspect
On 10-21-15 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Hernando County deputies responded to 8127 Flintshire Court in Spring Hill regarding a Residential Burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the female caller who advised that when she arrived at the residence she observed a male inside walking around the kitchen area. The female advised the deputies that the white male she observed inside the residence was wearing only a pair of gym shorts.
Deputies made entry into the residence in an attempt to locate the suspect. After clearing the house, deputies proceeded to the pool and back yard area. Once in the back yard, deputies observed the suspect hiding behind a large bush on the northeast portion of the property.
The suspect was crouched down attempting to conceal himself from the deputies. Corporal Steve Miller and Sergeant Bill Hillman gave numerous commands for the suspect including “Get down on the ground.” The suspect ignored all commands from deputies.
With the suspect being non-compliant, Corporal Steve Miller deployed K-9 Justice to take the suspect into custody.
K-9 Justice made contact with the suspect, biting him in the chest. The suspect became compliant and was immediately taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as Michael Liddic W/M DOB/06-06-1985 was transported by Hernando County Fire/Rescue to Oak Hill hospital for medical treatment for the K-9 bite.
Once released from the hospital, Liddic was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. He was charged with Residential Burglary. His bond was set at $10,000. Additional charges are pending.
