John Leggio’s center in Spring Hill presents ‘Holidazzzzzle’

Prepare to be dazzled to a whole new level.

John Leggio’s Center for the Performing Arts in Spring Hill is presenting a special Christmastime show this weekend, “Holidazzzzzle, A dazzling Christmas Extravaganza”.

John Leggio, artistic director of the production, promises this year’s show will be more dazzling than ever.

“This production celebrates the beginning of our tenth anniversary at John Leggio’s. There is so much to share and such amazing talent to showcase in this two-and-a-half hour show, and we are going to celebrate the holidays like never before,” said Leggio.

This year’s extravaganza will feature many of the Christmas songs that so many have grown up loving, set to beautiful choreography and singing. More than 100 dancers of various ages, along with 60 singers from John Leggio’s Center for the Performing Arts, will take part in the show, along with an additional 75 members of the Weeki Wachee High School choir, directed by Morgan Burburan.

“There is something for everyone, that is for sure,” said Leggio.

The show opens with a magical Cirque-style rollout of characters, stunning original costumes, the lighting of a spectacular Christmas tree, with dancing and acrobatics set to a David Foster instrumental arrangement of “Carol of the Bells.”

Musical numbers will include a wide range of music taste, from hip-hop, contemporary, modern, jazz and Broadway, along with Christmas Cabaret moments and show-stealing acrobatics. More than 60 tumblers literally will light up the stage with glowing costumes and aerial tricks, said Leggio.

From there, the Christmas celebration continues at the North Pole with music from the Polar Express, then moves to New York City, with Broadway musical numbers from, “A Christmas Story, The Musical” and “Elf, The Musical,” and Radio City Music Hall’s Rockettes inspired choreography from one of John Leggio’s Center for the Performing Arts own veteran and dance captain of the Radio City Rockettes, Kelly King.

The show will include a tribute to the Nutcracker ballet, set by John Leggio’s Center for the Performing Arts ballet master, Edwina Nelson.

“Our version is combined into an 18-minute story that highlights all the great moments from the Nutcracker ballet, including more than 50 little kids celebrating music from around the world,” said Leggio.

“You are going to see a big show,” said Leggio, summing it all up. “The holidays are very busy, but we hope everyone will come out and be “Holidazzzzzled!”

The “Holidazzzzzle, A dazzling Christmas Extravaganza” show starts at 7 p.m., on Friday and Saturday, at Springstead Theatre, 3300 Mariner Blvd., in Spring Hill.

Adult tickets are $15. Seniors tickets, age 65 and older, are $10. Groups of 20 or more are also $10. Kids, ages 5 and younger, are free.
