Hernando seeing smoke from controlled burn in Citrus

Smoke in the air around Brooksville and other parts of Hernando County is coming from a controlled burn in Citrus County, according to the Florida Forest Service.

The forest service is burning about 900 acres on the south side of State Road 44, west of Inverness.

Winds out of the north are pushing the smoke south and a high pressure system in the area is keeping the smoke low in the atmosphere.

The smoke may linger or move out of the area depending on the weather.
