Hernando leaders become waiters for charity event

Rookies Sports Bar and Grill on U.S. 19 recently hosted a “Celebrity Waiter” event to benefit the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program that delivers Christmas gifts to needy Hernando County seniors.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis has fun waiting on customers. Rookies Sports Bar and Grill on U.S. 19 recently hosted a “Celebrity Waiter” event to benefit the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program that delivers Christmas gifts to needy Hernando County seniors.

The waiters included County Commissioner Nick Nicholson, School Board member Gus Guadagnino, County Republican Executive Committee Chairman Blaise Ingoglia, Property Appraiser John Emerson, State Senator Wilton Simpson, School Board member John Sweeney, School Board member Matt Foreman, County Commissioner Wayne Dukes, Sheriff Al Nienhuis, Elections Supervisor Shirley Anderson and Tax Collector Sally Daniel.

All tips and a portion of the sales were donated to the program.
