Hernando High student accused of groping girl in cafeteria

BROOKSVILLE –
An 18-year-old student was jailed Thursday morning on accusations he groped a female student in the cafeteria at Hernando High School.

Marvin P. Fulks III, of 331 Union St. in Brooksville, was charged with lewd and lascivious battery against a victim younger than 16.

Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Pope, who is assigned to the school as a resource officer, was summoned to interview the 15-year-old victim, according to the arrest report.

The school is located at 700 Bell Ave.

The girl said she had asked Fulks to stop touching her and he would respond by telling her to “shut up” and by calling her a “whore,” deputies said.

The victim said Fulks had been behaving inappropriately toward her for about two weeks, the report showed.

Pope also spoke to a witness, who corroborated the victim’s statements that Fulks touched her inappropriately and called her a “whore,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Fulks spoke to Pope and said he had “on several occasions” touched her chest over her clothes, the report showed.

He also said he had approached her from behind and reached under her clothing to fondle her, Pope stated in the report.

Fulks was transported to the Hernando County Jail. His bond was set at $5,000.
