Erhard again seeks Brooksville council seat

BROOKSVILLE – Betty Erhard is the latest candidate to join the Brooksville City Council race.

Erhard is the first person to file for Seat 4, now held by Mayor Kevin Hohn. Hohn recently announced he will not run for re-election due to his work responsibilities.

In 2012, Erhard, a political newcomer, ran against incumbent Councilman Frankie Burnett. Burnett defeated her by 448 votes, according to election results, and now is Brooksville’s vice mayor.

Erhard works as a sales consultant and previously worked for the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce.

Erhard is the fourth person to file for the City Council election.

On Monday, local operations pastor Natalie Kahler filed to run for Brooksville City Council Seat 5. Hernando High School volunteer Vi Coogler also is seeking the seat currently held by Councilwoman Lara Bradburn, who is ineligible to run again due to term limits.

Former assistant city attorney Robert Battista has filed to run for Councilman Joe Bernardini’s Seat 1. Bernardini also cannot run in 2014 due to term limits.
