BROOKSVILLE – Drug busts kept Hernando County sheriffs’ deputies busy over the weekend.

There were several reports of drug possession arrests in all corners of the county, including an incident where a man brought an illegal substance into the jail.

Here is a rundown of arrests:

.Louis Zimmerman, 43, was arrested Saturday on one charge each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia when defendants visited his home at 10170 Henderson St. in Spring Hill after a 911 call and found marijuana in his pocket.

Zimmerman told deputies he has had a long addiction to crack cocaine and replaced that with marijuana since doing time in prison. He was taken to the jail and given a court date.

.Deputies did a traffic stop Sunday on Travis Allen, 23, who was driving 61 mph north on Sunshine Grove Road, which has a posted speed limit of 50 mph. After detecting a strong odor of marijuana, deputies found the drug and a silver grinder inside the side cup holder.

Allen, who lives off Lake Lindsey Road, was given a verbal warning for speeding and placed under arrest and charged with one count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Hernando County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.

.Kyle Buzzerio, 22, of Landover Boulevard in Spring Hill, was arrested for introducing contraband into the jail, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Buzzerio was taken to jail earlier after being arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on U.S. 19. While being searched at the jail, deputies found a one-and-a-half-inch straw with a white powdery substance inside his pants pocket.

Buzzerio said he used it to snort Methadone.

The substance tested positive for Methaqualone. He is being held on $10,500 bond.

.Nichole Skinnider, 29, was arrested on one count of possession of cocaine after deputies found the drug during a traffic stop at the corner of Barclay Boulevard and Powell Road.
