Brooksville man dies after motorcycle wreck

BROOKSVILLE – A Brooksville man died two days after a motorcycle accident last Thursday on State Road 50, west of Deltona Boulevard.

A Florida Highway Patrol report shows Kenneth R. Mixter, 67, was traveling west in the outside lane when a Buick approached briefly into oncoming traffic.

Mixter hit his brakes abruptly, overturned and collided into the Buick driven by Carolyn L. Moser, 72.

Mixter was not wearing a helmet.

Mixter was seriously injured and taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point where he died two days later from his injuries.

The report states Moser had exited a driveway and, unable to cross the proper lanes, went briefly into oncoming traffic while attempting to exit into the median.

Moser was ticketed for driving in the wrong lane, the report shows, and alcohol was not a factor.
