Boys & Girls Club to hold large fundraiser

SPRING HILL – The Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County is hosting a bazaar and fundraiser March 29 at Westside Elementary School at 5400 Applegate Drive.

The fundraiser is for supplies for the club’s monthly “Family Fun Craft Nights” and to provide information and assistance to local families, said Hope Schatzbergh, a volunteer with Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County.

“This is the first time we’re doing it as a community bazaar,” she said. “It’s basically to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club, because they’ve been doing family night where parents have to stay with the kids and do arts and crafts and game night, so that’s the big thing they need funds for.”

Schatzbergh also said the club needs funding to hold the “Family Fun Crafts Night” twice a month, instead of just once as now is done.

Vendor spots are $15 for one spot and $25 for two, Schatzbergh said, and vendors are asked to donate a raffle prize, as well.

There are a limited number of spots, so the club is asking interested vendors to contact it immediately to ensure a spot, Schatzbergh said.

“We have 60 spots and 30 are sold already,” she said.

The event will be held outdoors, and participants must provide their own tents, tables and chairs, said Schatzbergh, and the club will have community program booths for information about what resources are available in Hernando County for all different programs.

“We’re looking for vendors and shoppers, so please come out and support your local kids and families,” Schatzbergh said. “We’ll have food, shopping, raffles and lots of fun.”

Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County has five club sites: Brooksville Unit, Moton Unit, West Hernando Unit, Winding Waters Unit and Fox Chapel Extension.

The club’s administrative office is at 5404 Applegate Drive in Spring Hill and can be reached at (352) 666-0068.
